Affiliate marketing is a very popular online marketing strategy. Because it is so popular, there are always many affiliate marketers who are directly competing with you and are even competing for the same marketing venues like Google AdWords. The more affiliates trying to bid on the same keywords, the higher the bid price will be for everyone. Because this is such a crowded market, as an affiliate marketer, you should always be looking for new ways to market programs and items you have signed up for. One area that is under utilized by affiliate marketers is eBay. Here are some ways you can take advantage of the huge traffic of eBay and funnel some of it to your affiliate links.
The first way is the easiest. Take advantage of eBay's classified ads feature. You can set up a classified ad for your product and send your respondents to the item sales page. The ads on eBay are very reasonably priced and could be more effective than some of the other paid alternatives you may have.
The second way to promote your affiliate marketing efforts if from the eBay About Me page. The About Me page is the only place on eBay where outbound links are allowed. You can create your own ads and put them on your About Me page with your affiliate link. You may want to entice visitors to your auctions to check out your About Me page by offering a free report. When they get to the page, have a link where they can get their free report but also have your affiliate ads and links on the page. If your ads are well written, you will get some clicks on your links and you will get some commissionable sales.
Alternatively, you can embed some affiliate links in the free report that you are giving away. Make sure the report subject is related to your affiliate item and put some links in the report with the text "to learn more click this link." They click the link and are sent to the main sales page for your item.
Another way to use eBay is to sell related books or reports at as low a price as possible. Then when they go to the download page to get their purchase, you show them a one time offer for your affiliate items. You can load your offer up with bonuses th give them the motivation to buy now.
You could even offer them an incentive in the form of a rebate. If you are making 37 dollars on the sale of a book, you could give back 5 dollars and still have a good profit. The customer buys because he knows he's getting a great deal.
Those are just some of the ways you can use eBay as a traffic source for you affiliate marketing. eBay can be a great resource for you as an affiliate marketer. Use it efficiently and you could be on easy street in no time.
