You may have heard quite a bit about giving your child undivided attention. What exactly does that mean? Generally undivided attention means that you are completely focused on your child at the time. There is a fine line however, because it does not require you to be "on" as a parent at all times. That is unreasonable, what this means is that you give your child the courtesy and attention he or she needs most of the time.
There are often many things that you have to worry about as you are raising children. There are bills to pay, work to be done, not to mention housework and other chores. Not only that, but also many families have more than one child, plus pets, and the adults to worry about. However, it is important to remember that a child really needs to feel and know that their parent is giving them undivided attention. Giving your children this is something that you absolutely have to focus on, because it is going to be the best way that you have to make sure you are doing all you can to raise good children.
First of all, remember that in order to be good attention, you have to make sure that it is undivided attention. When your child wants to talk to you, they don't want to see you looking at your watch, or the television, or talking on the phone. They want to actually know that you are paying attention to nothing but them. Remember that when your child wants to talk to you about something, you want to be sure that you are giving them your attention. This is because you have to make sure that your children know that they can count on you for attention.
Remember, when it comes right down to it, the attention that you are giving your children is going to teach them a lot about you, about their family, and about how they should treat other people. You want to be sure that as you are teaching them these things, you are modeling how you want them to behave in the real world. Teaching your children to pay undivided attention to people when they talk is a great way to show them respect and how to relate to others.
There is something else that you want to remember as well. This is often the best way to get things accomplished fast. When your children need to talk to you or want to tell you something, it doesn't mean that you are going to have to give them your entire evening of undivided attention. If you are able to put everything else down and focus on them, you will find that these conversations don't have to be long and drawn out. You can get things out in the open much sooner.
It may be hard for you to always give your child undivided attention. Many parents are faced with the hard task of keeping up with the demands of daily lives, jobs and family. It takes a concerted effort to give your child the attention he or she needs, but it can be done. It is good for children because it shows them that they are worth it and that you are able to teach them that they are good people who deserve to have your attention. You want to show them that they are worth your time, and this will help them to build confidence and self worth. These are all very important things.
