Parents must teach their children about the predator that are lurking in internet chat rooms. They must be aware that the people they chat with in the internet chat rooms may not be who they pretend they are. They may sound nice, but remember that predators are lurking in children's chat rooms and waiting to victimize another child.
Many of our children are willing to input their personal information on the profile page where anyone can access their information. This is what These predators are looking for. Many of our teenagers that regularly use the internet have received unwanted solicitation on the web. These predators are targeting children 12 or older. We need to protect against our children becoming victims.
80% of homes have computers and internet access and the numbers are growing. We as parents have to start monitoring our children more closely when they are online. There is software that we can use to monitor their activity. This software secretly runs as part of the Windows operating system when your computer in on. We can also install "Access Control Software. It's not spying on your child.. they may not know if they enter a dangerous chat room.
Tell your children, Do Not meet with anyone they chat with in an internet chat room.
We must tell our children if anyone starts asking personal information don't give it out and immediately inform your parents. If the person you are chatting with says anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, let your parents know right away.
Parents should write down the screen name of that person, the time they were on-line and notify the proper authorities.
We as parents must have rules for internet use. Remember Predator will do anything they can to find out about your child.
I have researched many years into child abduction, and what we can do to protect our children. I realized that the rate of missing children has increased 444% since 1982. I gathered a lot of information from missing children's websites; (Child Shield USA, Help Missing Children, And the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children). I have also, collected information from law enforcement agencies in my community, Newspaper Articles and Parent Magazines. All of this inspired in me the need to write this article.
Our children have become an arena for these predators; we must take a stand to put a stop to the abduction of our children. Everyday, another child is missing in this country.
