When starting out your new Internet business you will need to make a decision.
The decision to be made is whether you need a web site or a blog. If you have a product or a service you need one of the two or maybe both!
Do you have a product or service that you want to offer? Do you want to sell in your local area or do you want to sell to a world wide audience?. It's easy, but not inexpensive, to run an ad in the local paper. You will, however, expose your product to only a finite number of potential customers. On the web your product or service will be shown to millions of people if you can get them to come to your site.
If you have a properly designed web page you can compete with anyone. It simply is not possible for readers to determine if they are dealing with a small company or a large one. It levels the playing field.
It is far more cost effective to maintain a web site than utilize other forms of advertising on a cost per reader comparison.
It has been proven that more and more people go to the web to look for products. They might be searching for price or delivery. Often the temptation to buy and not leave the comfort of their home wins out. The internet is a very convenient shopping area.
The time is fast approaching when a company that doesn't have a site simply will not be able to conduct business. Another option is to create a blog. You can make a rather nice income starting a blog rather than a full web site.
Create a New Blog
1. Find a decent blogging provider. Some that are available are Blogger.com, WordPress, JournalHome or Blogdrive. Many of these sites have ready made templates and push button technology.
2. Pick a template and personalize it. Add your personal information.
3. Add special touches like buttons, images, guest books and comment boxes.
4. Decide whether you want the blog to be private or personal. HINT: If your goal is to produce income you want any and all Internet viewers to be able to read your blog. Most sites are password protected so only you can make changes.
5. Decide on a color scheme. Most sites offer a good selection.
6. After setting up your blog, write a few posts to test it out. It may seem difficult but once you get started daily blogging gets easier. Write your blog as if you were writing a letter to a friend.
7. Visit other blogs and leave comments. Be sure to leave your blog address so they can visit you.
8. Lastly, publish your blog by sending to your friends and associates. Add the blog address to your web site, if you have one.
